ROXY

Roxy Monku-Monku Hirano
June 19, 1992-May 25, 2002

Roxy walked into our hearts without looking back at her siblings she was leaving behind. She just walked with us, like, "okay, let's go home now." From that day on, she was a part of the family.
When she was younger, Roxy enjoyed going to dog parks, camping, hiking, chasing cats and birds, barking ferociously at passing planes and semi-trucks, and of course, she loved dog beach. As she got older, she enjoyed shopping at Petco and Three Dog Bakery, eating at outdoor restaurants, and going for morning walks. But she never outgrew her love of playing catch, or her need to lick.faces, knees, and toes.
She was treated like the princess of the family. She would sleep on the bed, pushing her human off the bed, bark incessantly when guests came over because she was gated off alone in another room. Then she would suddenly stop as soon as someone came into the room (and they did not even have to pay attention to her, just as long as she was not alone).
A joke she would play on everyone was when they went to throw out the trash and try to return inside. She would playfully attack upon their return. She must have thought it was funny because she would lunge and nip at them and run away. And you could see her laugh, as only dogs can laugh.
She got her middle name because she would complain when you got mad at her. If she did something bad, and she knew it, she would moan back as you were scolding her. This was her nature. She would look at you out of the corner of her eyes, and moan. Sometimes if she really did not agree with what you were saying, her moan would turn into a bark but she would finally do as she was told.
Despite her "come here now" and "pay attention to me" princess-like characteristics, she was the best dog (as every owner believes their dog is the "best dog"). She kept all your secrets, comforted you if you were sad, understood when you were angry, played games to entertain you, guarded the house from strangers, and just laid there beside you to keep you company. We will miss her and remember her always.

May God bless her soul and Heaven be a better place because she is there.
